Hotkeys

Custom hotkeys can be assigned to suit your particular working method. See here for Default Shortcuts.

Setting Custom Hotkeys

  1. Press and hold CTRL + ALT and click on the interface item you want to assign a hotkey to. This could be a button, a slider or a palette.
  2. Press the key on your keyboard you want to assign the interface item to or press ESC to exit.

Mouse Wheel Support

ZBrush 4R5 supports the mouse wheel for devices that have one. The actions performed by scrolling the mouse wheel up or down can be assigned to various ZBrush sliders such as Draw Size. To use this feature, assign a hotkey like normal but scroll the mouse wheel instead of pressing a key command.

Assign a Palette to a Hotkey

  1. Press and hold CTRL + ALT and click on the palette.
  2. Press the key on your keyboard you want to assign the interface item to or press ESC to exit.

When a hotkey is assigned to a palette the top center of the palette will appear under your cursor when you press the hotkey. If the entire palette can not show within in the interface the palette will be moved vertically upwards until it fits into the ZBrush window.

By default the Alpha, Stroke, Tools, Brushes, Texture and Material palette are assigned to F1 through F6.

Assigning a Brush to a Hotkey

To assign a brush to a key follow the steps below:

  1. Press and hold CTRL + ALT and click on the brush in the Brush palette. You can click on a brush icon in the Brush palette or in the Brush pop-up.

You can also change the last letter hotkey used to pick a brush from the brush popup, such as changing the default B+S+T for the Standard Brush to B+S+X :

  2. Press the initial letter of the brush you want (for example, S for Standard Brush)
  3. Hold Ctrl+Alt and click on the brush icon in the popup.
  4. Press the key on your keyboard that you want to use.

Mouse Wheel Support

Scrolling your mouse wheel up or down can be assigned to any slider in place of a hotkey. Simply assign the hotkey like you normally would but scroll the mouse wheel instead of pressing a key.
