Fog

Fog must be enabled using the Fog button in the Render Properties menu.

Render > Fog sub-palette

Render > Fog sub-palette

Intensity

The Fog Intensity slider determines the overall strength of the fog effect.

Depth1

The Depth1 slider determines the nearest distance along the Z-axis at which objects are displayed without fog. From the Depth1 value to the Depth2 value, items are rendered with increasing fog applied. You can specify values in this slider, or you can click here and drag to the canvas to pick a depth value.

Depth2

The Depth2 slider determines the furthest distance along the Z-axis beyond which all items are displayed with maximum fog applied. From the Depth1 value to the Depth2 value, items are rendered with increasing fog applied. You can specify values in this slider, or you can click here and drag to the canvas to pick a depth value.

Fog Color 1

The Fog Color 1 picker selects the color of the fog at its nearest point (Depth1) and nearer. If a texture is chosen in the Fog Texture picker, this color is ignored. Because fog is also defined by the Fog Curve, below, this color may not be visible at its full intensity in the image. To select a color, you can click once to choose the Main color, or click this picker and drag to any other part of the ZBrush interface.

Fog Texture

The Fog Texture popup selects the texture which is used to color the fog. This popup overrides the selections in the Fog Color 1 and Fog Color 2 pickers; to clear it, select ‘Texture Off’.

Fog Alpha

The Fog Alpha popup selects the Alpha which is used to map the fog effect. Lighter areas define the areas where the effect is strongest. Although items from the Texture palette are used for the Fog Alpha, only the color intensity information is applied, as if the textures were grayscale images.

Fog Color 2

The Fog Color 2 picker selects the color of the fog at its furthest point (Depth2) and beyond.

Fog Curve

The Fog Curve defines the way in which the fog effect is applied along the Z-axis. By default, from the Depth1 value to the Depth2 value, items are rendered with increasing fog applied. This curve defines the amount of fog at each point between the Depth1 and the Depth2 values.
